Effectively draining water from a roof or plaza deck is a critical issue for every building. By using Iron Woods® elevated deck tile system, with Hanover® pedestals and leveling shims, water is channeled away from the roof surface. The Iron Woods® system grants architects and planners the ability to achieve level deck surfaces—even on foundations with unusual slope-to-drain configurations. The Iron Woods® elevated deck tile system with Hanover® pedestals is designed to work in concert to suit a variety of surface slopes.
Elevator™ Pedestal System
Timber Holdings Intl.™ is pleased to provide the Iron Woods® Elevated Deck Tile System with Hanover® pedestals for projects that require tile heights between 2″ and 24″. Hanover® Elevator™ pedestals include features that add greatly to performance, ease of installation, and stability.
Unique to our pedestals, the top plate incorporates rubber pads that quiet and secure the tile to the pedestal. Rigid-to-rigid (pedestal-to-tile) application can create noise and tile movement from pedestrian traffic. Our pads help to eliminate both conditions. Integrated spacing tabs set a uniform 1/8″ space between deck tiles and aid alignment. The top plate also provides over 42 in² of load bearing area.
- Padded top plates provide quiet, solid installations and eliminate tile movement.
- Coupler Eyelets allow easier bracing for installations over 16″.
- All components are made of high density, durable, impact resistant polypropylene.
As part of the Iron Woods® Elevated Deck Tile System, we provide couplers to increase the tile height by 2 ½″ - 4″. Bracing is required for elevations above 16″ and up to 24″. Couplers include a circular flange with multiple eyelets to make tie bracing a snap. This ring of eyelets around the coupler, as well as the holes in the base, enables the installer to securely fasten braces quickly and easily. (Request installation details for horizontal and cross bracing.)
The Elevator™ can be used in conjunction with our other pedestal systems. Flexible shims are available for finer, individual leveling. The Elevator™ also works on top of the Compensator® Leveling System to easily adjust to roof slopes.
Flexible Leveling Shims
Final adjustments can be achieved with flexible leveling shims. Unlike other pedestal systems that use plastic and PVC shims, Iron Woods® Elevated Deck Tile System incorporates shims fabricated from a material that eliminates “rigid on rigid” placement and prevents deck tile movement to provide a solid feel. Shim Thicknesses are available in 1/8″ (white) or 1/16″ (black). Leveling shims may be easily separated into halves or quarters for individual tile adjustment.
- Available in two thicknesses.
- Color coded for easy identification.
- Flexible material for easy use.
- Eliminates tile movement.
- Gives installation a more solid feel.
EPDM Pedestal and Leveling Shims
The EPDM Rubber Pedestal is a flexible deck tile support pedestal that allows tiles to follow the natural contour of the roof. The EPDM Pedestal is suitable for both Architectural and Ballast applications where water drainage is required. When used in ballast applications, roof membranes are protected from the tiles. This 3/8″ fixed height pedestal incorporates 1/8″ and 1/16″ spacer tabs and leveling shims to make installation easy. The EPDM rubber is resistant to the ozone and severe weather conditions. Additionally, it has sound deadening qualities and creates a soft feel for walking. This pedestal is not stackable and must be considered only for low elevation support requirements.
Final adjustments can be made with EPDM Leveling Shims. These shims prevent tile movement and a solid feel. Thicknesses are available in 1/8″ or 1/16″.
Compensator® Leveling System
We recognize the concerns of designers and installers regarding roof and deck applications on sloped surfaces. Iron Woods® Elevated Deck Tile System provides a solution in the Compensator®. The Compensator® permits a fast, easy installation and precise alignment of raised deck tiles.
The Compensator® is a specially designed tapered circular base made of high density plastic—it is impervious to water. When used in conjunction with our other tile support pedestals, this patented unit will “compensate” for the roof slope and allow the installer to easily achieve a level surface for tile installations. Their unique twist-to-adjust design is user-friendly.
The system is designed so that a variety of roof slopes can be accommodated. A roof slope of 1/8” can be leveled by using one Compensator®. By using two or more and aligning the units in the correct manner, roof slopes from 5/32″ to ½″ can also be leveled.
High-Tab® Pedestal
The increased height of the spacer tab on the High-Tab® Pedestal greatly improves installation when leveling shims are needed. Without this advantage, additional shims shift tiles from position and alignment. The added protection of High-Tab® Pedestals will leave you confident that each tile is secure and in its proper location.
To provide increased versatility, High-Tab® Pedestals can be stacked without loss of performance from the higher spacer tab. High-Tab® Pedestals have been specifically designed so they can be turned and engaged—one into the next—in such a way that the integrity of the added height is still present in the top pedestal.
- Increased spacer tab height.
- Prevents tile misalignment.
- Can be used with other Hanover® pedestals in the Iron Woods® Elevated Deck Tile System.
TileLock System
High wind and special site conditions require an outstanding tile system. Severe site conditions have often ruled out the use of Iron Wood® deck tiles on pedestals for beneath the surface water drainage. Timber Holdings Intl. has developed the Iron Woods® Elevated Deck Tile System especially for the most intense conditions in applications that require a raised roof panel for drainage and ventilation. Our system creates an evenly planed surface with high wind uplift resistance. Iron Woods® TileLock System integrates all connected deck tiles into a single cohesive unit.
